EmTea Designs

I have finally come to a few decisions lately.

I want to get more and more into making over furniture. It's something I love! It would be a dream come true to do this for a job! Specially starting a family in the next year or two, its a job I can do from home with ease!

I want to do an Interior Design course.

I have come up with a business name, EmTea Designs.

My name is Emma Thomas, Emma Thomas Designs wasn't available, and after finding out a few more combinations were unavailable, while sipping my tea, and thinking about how much I LOVE tea, I found out the name EmTea Designs is avalible.

Do people call their business and blog names something different? I can't really sell things after explaining how I did it can you? Love to hear your thoughts :)

  2. I think you should go for it. I love making things look good again. Who wouldn't like that for their job? And you've done some pretty awesome things so far.

  3. The business venture sounds awesome. I would love to do that too. :) One caution on your EmTea Designs name--It's cute but when you say it out loud it sounds a lot like "Empty" Designs.

  4. Hi Emma, I started my furniture upcycling business in Sept 2009 and right from the start intended my blog to be my 'website' for my business. I think that it is important part of this game that potential clients see your skill in taking something ugly and making it pretty again...by explaining how you did it in your blog isn't really 'giving your secrets away' as much as it is showing off your talents :)

I did make a mistake with the name I called by business and blog to start with - I chose French Country Furniture which I thought was what I did and what I would continue to do. While I do alot of the distressed shabby chic french counrty sort of style, I do other stuff too that didn't 'fit' my name so I changed it after about 6 months and it was the best decision!

All the best with your business, it is very exciting. I have two kids and work at this from home and it fits in perfectly with our family life.

    xx Karen

  5. I read a lot of blogs (repeat, a lot of blogs) and most sell the stuff they make even after showing it being redone. I suggest you use your blog name as your business name because people can find you easily that way and it's free advertising. Good luck.
