Wall unit makeover, and my first Giveaway! Woooo!

I brought this baby a few months ago, and she has been taking up room/collecting dust in the garage ever since.

60's Gold Diamond patterned doors? No thanks!
So I removed the doors, hardware, puttied, sanded, primed, and painted her in Dulux Grey pail.
Then I used a $2.06 mistint tub of turquoise paint I scored, to add some extra color to the back ground, and here she is:

I replaced the old handles with cute lil silver new ones.

I kinda fell out of love with her last night, but after I threw in some decorations this afternoon, I am defiantly back, head over heals in love with her.
This is only some decorations I very quickly threw together, I still got some work to do:

Upholstered chair

I brought this chair at a garage sale for $2 months ago. Apricot velvet... nice....

I took it apart and spray painted it in black gloss.

Then with my trusty staple gun I stuck on my new
uphostery fabric.
Then Viola I just stuck it all back together. Much better!

well overdue room reno blog

Hey Everyone!

So here is the final unavailing of our room. We all remember how hideous it was before right? (also notice the blinds, you are going to see them made over soon)

Two rooms, that were completely wasted space, so we decided to knock the wall down, and make it one nice cosy family room. We had to get a builder to remove the wall and put up a beam, as it was a load bearing room. He jacked it up on stilts, and took a few days.

After that we ripped up all the tiles and carpet, and smoothed out our concrete slab.
The boys spent a weekend hanging up all new plaster to cover the bricks, and make the wall have an even finish.
Then after sanding and finishing the plastering, we painted the whole room in dulux, cloud cream.
Then after leveling the floor, hubby spend HOURS AND HOURS laying our new timber laminate floor. He watched a video youtube and it told him it would take 2 hours. What a joke! all in all I'm pretty sure it took about 60 hours to finish the floor.

It looks so natural and I'm so in love with it.
Remember the old blinds? Well I spray painted them chocolate brown.
And here is the final product!

We soooo need a plasma to go on the blue stand

Am going to get a white coffee table and side tables

But I am so happy its all done!! Now it just needs some interior design magic and I'm so ready to go! I am starting an interior design diploma this week and I'm very excited!
Also, I am having my first give away next week, so If your not a follower make sure you sign up!

Projects galore! and room sneak peak

Lately I have been such a busy little Bee! Here are a taste of just a few of my projects I have been working on:
Here is how the room is going. Floor almost finished:

In our front lounge room, I got bored of the white frames and the pictures being spaced so far apart, so Friday I painted them glossy black and re hung them:

Here is my dream mirror, which I brought as a Christmas present to myself:

And my coffee table tray, I;ve started collecting owls.

I used 14 cans of chocolate brown spray paint on our old faded blinds. Yes i hung them on the clothes line to paint them!

Here is a sneak peak at the new room and our new leather couch:

I'm off to help with the finishing touches, I'll do a better detailed blog on it soon:)

Oh how I have missed you!

Sorry for my absence! I got caught up with all the Xmas/ new years stuff, then MORE Reno's!
I have missed you all!
How was everyones break?
Mine was great! Got ALOT done (by alot i mean spent a TONNE off money and will be eating cold baked beans out of the tin for the next 12 months... Well not that bad but we are on a tight budget now! Which is a good thing, I want to come up with insanely cheap projects!)
My camera cord is MIA, which is annoying cos I had so many pics I wanted to share. The renos are almost finished! we were one box short for the flooring, so we should have that by the weekend, then its all done!
The new room is going to be great. I am itching to start trying different furniture combos then start decorating it. I started marking the pages of my ikea catalog last night for insperation :)
So, in the next few days, I promise I will find the cord, and write a lovely long blog on everything we had to do to make the room.
I spent one whole day painting our old blinds... it took 17 cans of spray paint, and i'll tell ya what, my hands where killing the next day!
Talk soon,

Em xx

What would you do? (WWWD?) aka HEEELP!

Remember my beautiful, tranquil vision I had for our new room? Well, the floor is getting laid today, and then we are almost home free.....

Hubby and I started to share our visions of how we want it set up last night.
I was almost shaking with excitement to show him this picture! I thought I am so close to the dream becoming reality! Till he shared his vision.......
He wants to hang his beloved sports memorabilia:

And display his collection of toys from horror movies:

How Horrible is this?
Stop giggleing, close your mouth and lower those eye brows! I can see them from here!
I know its "our" house. But .....
Maybe that's how he feels about my stuff?
How does one meet in the middle with this?

Right now I am fighting every being in my body not to set fire to the whole thing!
HELP!
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Future makeovers

Hello Lovely readers!

Sorry I haven't blogged for a while! The house renovations are taking up all my free time! But it's starting to look like we are getting somewhere!

It's been so hard to find some spare time to get some furniture make overs done! My house is an absolute mess at the moment, I am hoping over the Christmas break to get my new bargains some much needed made overs!

Here is a dresser I picked up off Ebay Sunday night.

Lots of potential!

Plus the drawers that were in that bargain bedroom set I got off ebay:

So I am going to be busy!

Also, for our new room (when Its finally done) I decided I wanted some matching wall units.

I found these twins on Ebay:

They are almost identical, except one has a draw with a cocktail cupboard in the middle of it. All the hardware has been removed, and its all sanded, now all i need is some time to paint!
I have chosen a gray paint, and fell in love with this color scheme when I saw this pic:

Grey paint, with torquise back wall. LOVE!
So hopefully, VERY soon I will have lots of "after" shots to show you for all my projects :)
