EmTea Designs

I have finally come to a few decisions lately.

I want to get more and more into making over furniture. It's something I love! It would be a dream come true to do this for a job! Specially starting a family in the next year or two, its a job I can do from home with ease!

I want to do an Interior Design course.

I have come up with a business name, EmTea Designs.

My name is Emma Thomas, Emma Thomas Designs wasn't available, and after finding out a few more combinations were unavailable, while sipping my tea, and thinking about how much I LOVE tea, I found out the name EmTea Designs is avalible.

Do people call their business and blog names something different? I can't really sell things after explaining how I did it can you? Love to hear your thoughts :)

Spray Gun Makeovers

On the Weekend I got my spray gun up and working. I love it, but still have a few more things to figure out on it. Here are a few before and afters:

(My Dogs somehow get themselves into almost every before pic!)

Here is the coffee table finally made over:

And a little uuuuugly purple lamp that I brought for $4 and forgot to take before pictures, but trust me, it was BAD

I have a tonne more make overs that are almost done thanks to my handy new spray gun (even though it is pouring out oil...) So I should have them up in the next few days.
My house looks like such a mess at the moment, I need to sort it all out and re organise, big make overs at our house happening this week, the builders are coming to knock down a big load bearing brick wall this week woo hoo!! Pics coming soon :)

Everything is coming up Milhouse

Ok, So I read some blogs, ate some sushi, then decided to go to the local hardware store for more ideas.
While sneaking around the paint section trying to find the mistint trolley, eyes all shifting looking very dodgy, I overhead that one of the major paint brand is getting put off the shelf, and they are selling all their 10 litre drums for $40! CHAAAA CHIN!!!!
I went crazy.
200 bucks later, I am feeling very inspired and ready to paint!
I've almost got a spray gun all sorted, should be in my hands by the weekend.
And even better news, its rubbish collection time so everyone around here is throwing away their furniture they no longer love.
Life is looking up :)

In a funky mood

I am back safe and sound from my holiday, Suffering a major case of the can't be bothered's....

I have no motivation, or inspiration, and a heap of furniture I need to make over asap....

Hopefully if I spend some time reading all the blogs that give me inspiration it will get me out of my funk.

On my holiday I got a new little tattoo on my left foot, its a bit red still in the picture:

So whats inspiring you? I gotta get out of this mood!

insert witty title here....

I don't have a make over for this week. We are about to go on a well overdue holiday so I am trying not to do anymore projects till after that.

I did however on the weekend buy this dresser. I know I said no more till my other projects are done, but I couldn't help myself! I have a problem! Plus it was a 30 second drive away from my house, So I would be a fool not to buy it!

So much potential! Oddly the handles are super glued on, so I have no choice but to use them...

Also, I sold my first 2 make overs, a mirror and the dresser.
I made enough to buy a spray gun! Can't wait! Then I have a tonne of makeovers to do when I get back and hopefully I can get them all done in one day with my new time saving Spray gun! Any recommendations on which ones are the best?
See you in two weeks, I'm off to the Gold Coast! wooooooooooooo

Free Desk makeover!

So remember last week how I found this desk on the side of the road? (I was to scared to take a picture of it sitting by the curb! I was just rushing to get it on the ute and speed away)

Well last night, the make over was complete! I sanded, primed and painted the desk, and painted the existing knobs.
I used the left over paint from my last dresser makeover, So I didn't buy anything! It's a free makeover, baby!

The draws we covered in ink, so I painted the insides black, and lined them with some wrapping paper I have sitting around.

Free! Free! Free! Love it!

Dresser makeover, Garage Sales and Roadkill rescue OH MY!

Here is my latest completed make over, I got this dresser off Ebay a few weeks ago:

She had seen better days, lots of scratches on the top and some of the handles where quite damaged.

So I spray painted some of the existing ones, and also brought some new ones. (Gotta love the Bargain centre around the corner from work, all handles $1!)

So I Sanded, Primed, and painted her with a off white mistint i found.

And here's the final product:

Notice those Blue vases in the left corner? They were one of the many Bargains I got on the weekend Garage Saleing! (Is Saleing even a word? ah well lets say it is) They were not that cute when I saw them...

This is how I found them, But I loved the shape and they were $5 for the both of them!

This baby was $3, I have painted her blue too, but have no picture. The bamboo place mats in the background where $2 for 8. I'm going to stencil them with a table runner I got for $1.

I also got 2 ugly lamps for $10, which I am kind of regretting now, I think they might be beyond help, so might just use the lamp wiring. And my last bargains where more picture frames for 50 cents each, and some old antique door locks for 50 cents that I'm sure will come in handy for something.

I was feeling a little sad that I didn't find any furniture to make over. But also relieved for my marriage's sake that I didn't spend any more money on furniture, so my hubby couldn't complain....
Then, around the corner from my house we spot a large desk sitting on someones nature strip. I pull over brakes screeching, and see there is a little cardboard signing leaning on it saying "FREE".
AHHHHHH!
I only parked one house away, but it took forever to get it in the back of the ute, this baby is solid wood, and built very well! But its mine now!

The next day I found out the top is way to wide to fit through any doors in my house, so I spent last night taking the top off (Easy done!) and sanding her. She will fit now, I will just have to put her back together in the study. Can't wait till she is finished, I'm still deciding to keep her plain and classic, or do something a bit different on the top, like a mural, or blackboard.
Any suggestions?
